Bill Lawrence guitars have its serial number on the neck joint plate. I once asked Moridaira Gakki to confirm the year of manufacturing from the number. Unfortunately they replied that they couldn’t because they didn’t managed the serial number strictly then and they had no method to compare guitars with serial number.
Then, it is the only way to presume the year of manufacturing that we get model name from the neck pocket and compare with the data list of “Bill Lawrence Data Box” site.
The neck pocket script revealed this one to be BL1-R72 PW which seems to be manufactured around 1987. The price was 72,000JPY then. They stopped manufacturing BL-2 and BL-3 in 1989, and at last BL-series was disappeared from 1990 catalogue.
We often find BL-1s on auction because it was popular among BL-series. Alder body. 3.49kg includes strings. (updated 2021.1.2)
