A Greco EG order made guitar. You can see “ORDER MADE” stamped in the control cavity.
In 1970s, the word “order made” sounded so sweetly in the ears of Japanese guitar boys. They wondered what the order made guitars were, because they couldn’t see high grade Greco guitars to say nothing of touch them. How could they imagine the order made guitars which exist beyond them? Shaved head boys with Onitsuka Tiger(Asics now, popular athletic shoes brand in those days) shoes imagined wastefully day by day.
At last, I got a Greco EG order made guitar after spending near forty years.
Take a look on photos, you can see engraved letters ”FE-01776H” on the end of fingerboard. I’m not sure what these characters exactly mean but “76” must means 1976 because specification is just Greco Les Pauls’ handcrafted in 1976/77. That’s why I infer the manufacturing age is 1976.
As you imagine by appearance, the man who ordered this guitar seems to have intended to reproduce George Harrison’s Lucy. It’s a little strange that he didn't select ivory pickguard and escutcheon but white ones. Why was he particular about it?
The fundamental specification is just EG-900 of those days except for precious black ebony for fingerboard and neck volute. 4.43kg(includes strings). (Updated 2016.8.24)
