Greco EG-1350 Project Series
I had all but given up hope of ever finding this guitar.
In the past ten years, I’ve only come across two examples of the EG-1350 Project Series. The first was in poor condition, so I decided not to bid. The second—this very one—finally became mine.
The Project Series Les Paul lineup consisted of three models: EG-1200, EG-1350, and EG-1500.
The EG-1200 was based on the Les Paul Standard, while the EG-1500 took inspiration from the Les Paul Custom.
Essentially, the differences between them and the regular Greco models lay in the finish and the use of the U-4000 pickups.
The Project Series as a whole has always stood apart from other Greco lines, but even within that context, the EG-1350 shines as something truly unique.
Structurally, it shares much with the EG-1200, yet the body carving sets it apart—not only from other Grecos but from any Les Paul copy ever made.
The carve around the body’s edge dips deeply toward the center, creating a violin-like sculptural contour that feels almost sensual in its three-dimensional form.
At the time, however, very few people appreciated this design.
To most, it was an oddity—an eccentric outsider—and as a result, only a very small number were produced.
If production numbers were to be expressed as an inequality, it would likely read:
EG-1200 >> EG-1500 > EG-1350.
Looking at it now, though, this unique carving feels nothing short of captivating.
Weight: 4.41 kg (including strings)
