Late-1970s ESP Les Paul Custom
This Les Paul Custom, built by ESP in the late 1970s, carries all the hallmarks of the company’s early craftsmanship.
According to the previous owner, the guitar originally came equipped with two P-90–style pickups.
That means it likely resembled the first-generation 1954 Les Paul Custom, which also featured a dual P-90 configuration.
At some later point, the two original pickups were removed, and the cavities were enlarged to standard humbucker dimensions.
A third pickup was also added in the center position.
The routing work was clean and precise — clearly professional-grade, and most likely carried out at ESP itself.
The center pickup is an LH200, while the neck and bridge pickups could not be identified because their short leads would have required unsoldering connections inside the control cavity.
Every detail of this guitar — from the finish to the fit and hardware alignment — demonstrates the meticulous build quality that made early ESP instruments so respected.
Weight: 4.42 kg (including strings)
