Yamaha LP-500 — Standard Les Paul Construction
Unlike most of my guitars, this one wasn’t bought through an auction but from a music store.
It cost more, of course, but there’s a certain peace of mind that comes with a properly adjusted instrument.
When buying from auctions, one often ends up spending extra on repairs and setup afterward.
Where the LP-600 was an all-mahogany oddball,
this guitar follows the standard Les Paul formula.
The back is a two-ply mahogany body, like the LP-1000,
but made from a larger number of smaller pieces,
almost like a parquet pattern in wood.
It’s puzzling that the only major differences between this model and the top-tier LP-1000—
a guitar that cost twice as much—
are the absence of the Bi-Sound system and the number of body pieces used.
No wonder the LP-1000 didn’t sell particularly well.
As with other Yamaha set-neck models,
the neck stability is excellent—solid, straight, and dependable.
Weight: 4.17 kg (including strings)
