B.C. Rich Mockingbird Copy Model

I acquired this B.C. Rich Mockingbird copy model around 2003.

The guitar features a maple body with a lacquer finish and an ebony fingerboard, giving it both visual elegance and tonal clarity. It is equipped with Grover Imperial 150C tuners and DiMarzio Dual Sound pickups. The white mother-of-pearl inlays are a notable highlight—a higher-grade specification than the pearloid cell inlays commonly used by Fernandes at the time.

Unlike component-style guitars manufactured with die-cut processes (as with Fender), creating a natural-finish guitar like this demands meticulous craftsmanship. There are no shortcuts in such production; every detail must be executed by hand. The older B.C. Rich models are classic examples of this philosophy, and one can easily imagine the effort and precision required to produce such intricate position-marker inlays.

Priced at ¥160,000, this instrument ranked among the top-tier Japanese guitars of its day, comparable to high-end domestic Les Paul models. The maple body produces a tight, solid tone—clear, defined, and powerful.

Weight: 3.77 kg (including strings)
