Fernandes Burny RLG-60 ’56 Model

The RLG-60 ’56 Model is the goldtop from Burny’s The Revival series, which began in 1981.
It first appeared in catalogs the following year, 1982, after the lineup was refreshed. However, in 1984, the RLG-60 ’59 Model (Standard) was added to the same series, which can cause confusion when referring simply to “RLG-60” without specifying the version.

This particular model seems to have been relatively unpopular at the time.

When buying a guitar, players are inevitably influenced by the musicians they admire in real time. In the late 1970s, Char (Hisato Takenaka) had a major impact on the popularity of goldtop guitars in Japan. Because of that, most guitarists who wanted a goldtop had likely already purchased one—from Greco or Navigator/ESP—before this Burny model was even released.
So the people who bought this guitar were probably individualists who weren’t swayed by trends—or perhaps dedicated goldtop enthusiasts who would laugh at such speculation as mine.

The color is a rich, yellow-tinged gold, noticeably different in tone from the goldtops made by Greco or Navigator.
While the original tuners were Kluson-style, they have been replaced with Grovers on this instrument.

The body is two-piece mahogany, but the joint line is near the control cavity area, quite close to the contoured edge—a rather uncommon position.
Weight: 3.92 kg (including strings)
