Reflections on the Telecaster

It may disappoint some readers, but I have to admit that my knowledge of Telecasters is still limited.
I’m not yet at a point where I can speak about them with real authority.

Until fairly recently, I had little interest in the Telecaster.
There were two main reasons for that.
First, none of my favorite guitarists played one.
And second—this is almost embarrassing—a TV music program I watched in middle school left me with a bad impression.
One of the guitarists on the show was playing a Telecaster,
and the tone struck me as thin and brittle, lacking any warmth in the low end.
That single image stuck with me for years, and I kept my distance from the Telecaster ever since.
Preconceptions can be powerful things.

Lately, though, I’ve started to grow more interested.
So many great guitarists play them, and there’s something fascinating about their quick, snappy response.
Since acquiring this guitar, I’ve picked up a few more,
and I’m beginning to understand the appeal.
